4.0 out of 5 stars Best Alternative to Sugar I've found, bit pricey though..., January 16, 2012
This review is from: SweetLeaf SteviaClear Liquid Stevia, 4-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
I've been using Stevia in the kitchen as a sugar substitute for years, absolutely love it. Tastes great in coffee, good bye sugar! But also have been using it in my baking to lower the sugar content and thereby lowering the calories! Although I like the dropper, and the bottle this product comes in, it's just way too expensive when compared to other stevia products online. The best deal I've found is on amazon of course; 30 Grams Stevia 95% Steviosides Bulk Powder. It's literally less than a dollar per ounce. I wouldn't say it tastes any different. Stevia is stevia to me just like sugar is sugar, but the price is so much lower it's hard not to switch to the powder form. I have found that with this product as little as half of a teaspoon equals a full cup of sugar so be careful when measuring, a little goes a long way!

It's great in everything but coffee, & now I know why. If you use it in relatively bland food, you need to use VERY little, so all you get is the sweetness. If you use it in something with a stronger flavor (like coffee), it takes more of the product to overcome any bitterness & you start getting into the area where the stevia starts contributing a bitterness of its own. For some reason the stevia crystals don't have this effect. But it's fine in everything else I've tried it in, and it lasts FOREVER. So I think I'll probably keep getting both.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best Stevia Product!!!, March 11, 2009
This review is from: SweetLeaf SteviaClear Liquid Stevia, 4-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
I've used this product for quite a few years, after trying MANY other brands and forms, and still find this to be the absolute best stevia product--hands down! I don't know what we would do without this product. We use it every day, all day, for coffee, tea, sweetening yogurt fruit, etc. All our family members like it, too. One bottle lasts for over two months, usually three. It has no aftertaste, a few drops is all it takes and finally, we've been able to almost eliminate sugars from our diet without "suffering". There are 2,880 drops in a 4 oz or 120ml bottle, according to the manufacturer. We love it!
UPDATE: Received new shipment and bottle label has changed. Now states there are approx. 600 servings per bottle at 5-8 drops per serving or to taste. Last few bottles seemed slightly weaker, but still the best of all the other brands, by far. We still love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch gluten free rolled oats, November 27, 2009

These oats are rolled quite thick, resulting in chewy oatmeal that takes longer to cook (10 minutes) than more conventional, thinly rolled oats. They are my favorite because of the much more substantial texture. However, shipping charges make local bulk purchase a much less expensive option - ask for a discount on a case purchase at your local store.

One of the things I missed most when I had to stop eating gluten was oatmeal, since oats grown in the US are generally cross-contaminated with wheat/barley or other gluten-containing grains. I was so excited to discover Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Rolled Oats at my local Whole Foods a year or so ago, and they taste great, with a wonderful satisfying, chewy texture. Highly recommended!

I just had a big bowl of oatmeal and I'm not sick! No heartburn or cramps! I just feel full and happy! It has been YEARS since I've been able to eat oatmeal! These oats are delicious, chewy, wonderful! I made the oatmeal in three minutes in the microwave...a quick breakfast or snack! Tomorrow, I am going to create a recipe for oatmeal chocolate chip cookies...then, maybe oatmeal bread...then oatmeal muffins...then... Having these oats available Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Whole Grain, Rolled Oats, 32-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4) gives me so many more gluten-free options for baking and cooking! Hurrah!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tidy Cats Breeze system.., June 29, 2008
I've had this for a few weeks, and I'm really happy with it.

The hugest advantage to this system is the urine is separated from the 'litter' and odor is greatly reduced. The litter consist of pellets similar in shape/size to the wood-based natural litters, but they are of a hard clay, which doesn't break down with moisture, and they keep their shape. Thus, the urine drains straight down through a grid to the pad (in its own slide-out drawer), and the poo stays on top to be scooped away.

The pee will not ferment with the characteristic stench, and you don't have to deal with clumping litter which doesn't really clump, and is just plain stinky and messy to scoop up.

The proprietary 'pee' pads are kind of like a giant maxi pad, and absorb a lot of liquid. Also, the bottom side of the pad is plastic, and the pad fits into the tray in a way that the plastic is upturned to keep the tray itself dry. Maintenance consists of merely taking the drawer out to... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars like it so far(1 day) , added info after a week, July 13, 2008
I got this yesterday and so far it looks good, I've been using silica litter but even the cheap stuff is not that cheap and is fairly dusty, so I've been looking for an alternative and this seems to be it. The silica works great for drying up odors until it gets pee saturated. I sprinkled at little of the old wet litter on the breeze litter and the cats used it right away. The pee does drain through and the pads are good, they've used it quite a few times and the pad still feels dry. I'm actually hoping they DON'T poop in it and continue to use the silica for that, then I'll have the best of both worlds, the poop will dry and the pee will be able to be gotten rid of so the expensive silica will last longer.

After a week, still on the first pad and haven't noticed any odor problems. Have 3 cats and left the silica so they are using both but they are using the breeze a lot. Adding crystals or enzyme spray to the pad might stretch it's life out even longer. They've... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Worked great for pee & hard poo, BUT could not stand the poop smell, July 4, 2008

Back when I used the breeze cat system, there were 4 cats in the apartment (2 are my cats, and the other 2 were my brother's cats that I was temporarily taking care for him). I had the breeze next to the original litter box for 3 days and none of the cats used it. They all went on top of the pellets to check it out but did not pee/poop in there. One of the cats tried to eat a pellet and I took it away from him. I *think* none of them actually ate it.

On the 4th day, I took the original litter box away, and then they all started using the breeze. There were no "accidents" in the apartment and I did not find pee or poop on the floor or carpet. I think the fact that I placed some of the pellets with their original litter really helped them get accustomed to the product (and also since the breeze system was sitting there for 3 days, they were at least familiarized with it).

The pad that sucked up the pee worked really well. I experimented to figure out the... Read more
